Assistant Professor of Chemistry Samuel Shepard earned a prestigious fellowship from earlier this year, enabling the creation of digitally manipulatable and physically printable 3D models of chemicals within his Physical Chemistry class.

Shepard was one of only 10 fellows selected for the 2026-27 cohort.

The institute鈥檚 Accelerating Curricular Transformation in the Computational Molecular Sciences (ACT-CMS) education and faculty development program selects fellows each spring, and awards them a $5,000 support stipend and an invitation to the institute鈥檚 weeklong workshop at its headquarters, alongside mentorship opportunities from experts in curriculum and programming and computation.

Shepard鈥檚 Physical Chemistry course, , is available in both the fall and spring semesters.
